As I mentioned a few months ago, I am reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, which starts with Guilty Pleasures. Onto book 7: Burnt Offerings! I’m reading about 175 pages a week. Each week, I’ll be bringing you two posts: a review of the book and a related kinky post. This is my review of the book post!
I got a little bit behind, whoops! But I’m not giving up on this project!
Description from Goodreads: “You can’t trust anyone who sleeps with the monsters.”
That’s what I’ve always said. That’s what I’ve always believed. But now I’m the one sharing a bed with the Master Vampire of the City. Me, Anita Blake. The woman the vampires call the Executioner. From part of the solution, I’ve become part of the problem. So it hits close to home when an arsonist begins to target vampire-owned businesses all over town — an arsonist who seems to want to destroy more than just property. It’s the monsters who are in danger now. And it’s up the the Executioner to save them from the inferno…
#7 Burnt Offerings Part 1 (Ch 28-end)
Non-spoilery Review:
Another great one! It’s kind of amazing how this one wraps up. It’s a bit crazy, to be honest. I think the fire aspects of this book make it a really scary situation. I don’t even know what to say anymore about this book without giving things away. But what I will say (since I’ve actually read beyond it already when I wrote this review) is that some of the aspects and themes of this book are going to come up again, so make sure to read this one!
Here is the link to my very rough notes about this part of the book, including notes on characters and plot. It’s mostly for me, but if you had read it in the past and just need a refresher, it would suffice, though it doesn’t read nicely!
