As I mentioned a few months ago, I am reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, which starts with Guilty Pleasures. The next book is Cerulean Sins! I’m reading about 175 pages a week, so this book is going to be broken into three parts. Each week, I’ll be bringing you two posts: a review of the book and a related kinky post. This is my review of the book post! For those who are new to my blog, you don’t need to read the books to read the kinky stories on Fridays, and of course, you’re welcome to check out my reviews on Sundays!
Description from Good Reads: Cerulean Sins, the eleventh entry in the hugely-popular Anita Blake series, finds everyone’s favorite vampire hunter keeping house and kicking butt.
Anita Blake is trying to get her life back to “normal” after a break-up with her werewolf lover. She has settled into a pattern of domesticity, which means that the new man in her life, the leopard shapeshifter Micah, has no problem sharing her with Jean-Claude, Master Vampire of the City. Things are as peaceful as they ever get for someone who raises the dead, when Jean-Claude receives an unexpected and unwelcome visitor: Musette, the very beautiful, very twisted representative of the European Council of Vampires. Anita soon finds herself caught up in a dangerous game of vampire power politics.
To add to her troubles, she is asked to consult on a series of brutal killings, which seem to be the work of something un-human. The investigation leads her to Cerulean Sins, a vampire-run establishment that deals in erotic videos, videos that cater to very specific tastes. Anita knows one creature of the night who has such interests — Jean-Claude’s visitor. But if Anita brings Musette down, the repercussions could cost her everything she holds dear.
Once a sworn enemy of all monsters, Anita is now the human consort of both Master Vampire Jean Claude and leopard shapeshifter Micah. When a centuries-old vampire hits St. Louis, Anita finds herself needing all the dark forces her passion can muster to save the ones she loves.
Anita Blake returns to find hell hath no fury like a vampire scorned.
Non-spoilery Review:
As I said about the last book, I’m having a little trouble relating to Anita right now. Usually, I can find myself in almost any character, at least in some way. But Anita is super squicked out by bi men, and I…love them. Like, watching two guys together is very hot. Gang bangs welcome, and I don’t have to be the center of attention the *whole* time (just most of it *wink*). This first part of the book is a lot of vampire politics, which is interesting, but frustrating to Anita and to me, and Anita’s lack of interest in the guys being together plays a heavy role. It’s still good, though, and I recommend it!
Here is the link to my very rough notes about this part of the book, including notes on characters and plot. It’s mostly for me, but if you had read it in the past and just need a refresher, it would suffice, though it doesn’t read nicely!
You’re making me want to re-read this series and my TBR of new stories is out of control, lol.
It’s always a shock to start at the beginning of this series again, considering where she is at with her relationships in the latest edition!

Right!? I am still re-reading and I haven’t gotten up to the newest ones. I don’t remember where I’ve left off in the past, and I don’t clearly remember the details of these books, but I definitely read them before. There are bits and pieces I remember from the later books. I *know* I read Micah (because I *love him*). But I don’t remember the ending of Incubus Dreams (which I have 40 pages left of). I’m really enjoying it, though!

I adore Micah too! I liked Richard in the beginning, then frequently want to kick him in the….tail. I love the growth, strength, and changes in Nathanial as well! 💞

YES! I love Nathaniel. I can see why Anita is so protective of him. It’s so cute when she keeps protesting that she can’t love him.
