Incubus Dreams

As I mentioned a few months ago, I am reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, which starts with Guilty Pleasures. The next book is Incubus Dreams! I’m reading about 175 pages a week, so this book is going to be broken into three parts. Each week, I’ll be bringing you two posts: a review of the book and a related kinky post. This is my review of the book post! For those who are new to my blog, you don’t need to read the books to read the kinky stories on Fridays, and of course, you’re welcome to check out my reviews on Sundays!

Description from Laurell K. Hamilton’s Website: Anita’s life is more complicated than ever, as she is caught between her obligations to the living and the undead. A vampire serial killer who preys on strippers is on the loose. Called in to consult on the case, Anita fears her judgment may be clouded by a conflict of interest. For she is, after all, the consort of Jean-Claude, the ever-intoxicating Master Vampire of the City. Surrounded by suspicion, overwhelmed by her attempts to control the primal lusts that continue to wrack her, Anita does something unprecedented: she calls for help.

Anita is pushed to her limits-both professionally and passionately-when she is called in on what appears to be a case involving a vampire serial killer preying on strippers.

Non-spoilery Review:

It’s hard not to be too spoilery at this point. I mean, if you haven’t read any of the series, you probably won’t know what I’m talking about, and if you have read it, it doesn’t matter. It’s also a little weird saying the same things over and over again, especially when only taking a third of the book at a time. But what I can say is that I am still enjoying the series. This is about the point where I always fall off the wagon. As much as I love this series, sometimes I want to read a mystery or a romance or something else entirely. So I did take a little pause (whoops), but I’m back to reading now! And as always, I can’t put it down. I’m still struggling a little with the fact that Anita is so uncomfortable with male-male sex. Maybe that will get better? (I hope.) But we’re definitely pushing the boundaries of my memory of having read it in the past. I honestly can’t remember much past this. I know I read Micah (the novella that comes next) because I adore him. I’m not sure I got much past that…

Anyway, read Incubus Dreams! It’s good!

Here is the link to my very rough notes about this part of the book, including notes on characters and plot. It’s mostly for me, but if you had read it in the past and just need a refresher, it would suffice, though it doesn’t read nicely!

Hope you enjoy this foray into the world of Anita Blake! What else are you reading? Come back later this week for a kinky story!

  1. Oh definitely stick with them….without giving too much away in the series…..if you’ve read through it all, then start back with book one it’s quite the shock how much she’s grown and changed through the years. My TBR pile is yelling at me because now I want to go re-read these instead of something it contains, lol.
