Richard here with an update on some of our ongoing goals:

1. National Novel Writing Month

Jayden and I will both be leading our writing group in Nano again this year. Jayden is writing some kind of futuristic Jeff Goldblum dinosaur smut,

Jayden: That is such a misleading tag for what I’m writing. I have no idea what it’ll be, but it sounds like there will be a Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcom clone…or something.

and I’m working on a GSM super hero story. We need to hit 100K+ each in order to have any chance at making…

2. One Million Words

Currently, we’re at around 555K. We’re behind (but not completely out of it) on our goal of ~70K each for October. Not counting whatever else we write this month, we need to average a little over 100K each of the remaining two months (if we can make it to around 70K this month, we drop to about the same for December) to hit our goal. That’d be extremely difficult, but not impossible. SEND PROMPTS!

As you can see, April and July are our best months, and in July we almost hit that 200k mark. So fingers crossed!

3. 524 Sexes

On a better note, we’ve cleared the “one to one” threshold on our goal of 524 sexes! With 69 (nice!) days to go, we only need 67 more sexes. I’m hoping to get one more in tonight, depending on how Jayden and I are feeling, but either way it’s a relief. While having a ridiculous amount of sex is fun, at this quantity it starts to feel kind of chorish/check boxy sometimes. I think we’ll shoot for a nice, reasonable, 400 or so next year.

The Eve

Most people get excited about October 31st because it’s Halloween. There’s Trick or Treat and Candy galore and costumes and parties…

I get excited because at midnight, I get to start my favorite month of the year. Except this year it’s going to be TOTALLY different. I remember thinking about this night back in March, and how we had to be through this pandemic by then, because how could November come without parties and Thanksgiving dinner and NaNo events and midnight-write-ins and 24-hour marathons and Panera!?

And yet here we are, facing a month of virtual events.

I don’t write well at home. I never have. Too many distractions. If I’m being honest, there may be a lot of evenings spent sitting in the Panera parking lot, crying and missing my friends. But even though 2020 has taken a lot from me and a lot more from many others, it will NOT take NaNoWriMo from me.

So join me in reclaiming November, finding our voices again, and reaching our goals. We write at Midnight.

#NaNoWriMo Day 27

Are you doing NaNoWriMo? I am!

  • Goal: 104,200 words
  • Words today: 91
  • Total words so far: 82,684
  • Words left: 21,516

Can I write all those words in the time left? Well, time will tell.

I will say this. If I don’t make a *huge* dent tomorrow, it won’t happen. Friday is super busy, and Thursday is mildly busy. Tomorrow is the day! Wish me luck!

Keep it up, fellow writers!

#NaNoWriMo Day 25

Are you doing NaNoWriMo? I am!

  • Goal: 104,200 words
  • Words today: 7
  • Total words so far: 79,089
  • Words left: 25,111

After writing 50,001 words yesterday, I am taking a bit of a break. I have written at least something every day, but I didn’t post with this template every day.

Keep it up, fellow writers!

#NaNoWriMo Day 21

  • Goal: 104,200 words
  • Words today: 1404
  • Total words so far: 29049
  • Words left: 75,151

The weekend was rough, and even into this week. I wrote every day, but some days were 4 words and some were 22 words. That was all I could manage, and I didn’t even open my laptop.

I’m gearing up for a big marathon this weekend! Stick around to hear how things are going.

Keep it up, fellow writers!

#NaNoWriMo Day 15

Are you doing NaNoWriMo? I am!

  • Goal: 104,200 words
  • Words today: 590
  • Total words so far: 26,904
  • Words left: 77,296

Keep it up, fellow writers!

Halfway there! ❤ We can do this! Don’t lose heart. This was not my best day, not in terms of writing, emotions, or anything else. But, here we are. I wrote some words and used some of the crappy parts of my day as challenges my characters are facing. Thanks for reading!

#NaNoWriMo Day 10

Are you doing NaNoWriMo? I am!

  • Goal: 104,200 words
  • Words today: 8642
  • Total words so far: 25001
  • Words left: 79199

I made great progress today! I spent four hours at a write-in and I managed to push to halfway to 50k! I’m excited about my progress, but I know that things are going to slow down now. :/ My personal life is getting busy, so we’ll see what happens! I know that I can make it to 50k before the end of the month, but we’ll see how well I hit my stretch goal.

Keep it up, fellow writers!

One week in. How are YOU doing?

I am definitely not as far along as I would like to be to reach my goal. I was hoping to get to about 50k by the 15th, which puts me essentially on track. I have another week to get there, but it’s a very busy week and I’m not even at 25k, which is where I would like to be. So, we’ll see what happens! But I’m determined to get it done!
