The Killing Dance – Part 1

As I mentioned more than a month ago, I am reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, which starts with Guilty Pleasures. Onto book 6: The Killing Dance! I’m reading about 175 pages a week. Each week, I’ll be bringing you two posts: a review of the book and a related kinky post. This is my review of the book post!

Description from Amazon: In The Killing Dance, vampire hunter Anita Blake finds herself the victim when a $500,000 price is put on her head, and the two men in her life – a vampire and a werewolf – aren’t helping the situation.

The Killing Dance Part 1 (Ch 1-18)

The Killing Dance is probably the most suspenseful Anita Blake book yet. In this first half, there’s a lot of tension (not sexual) that certainly keeps the reader on their toes! But the sexual tension is building, too, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Here is the link to my very rough notes about this part of the book, including notes on characters and plot. It’s mostly for me, but if you had read it in the past and just need a refresher, it would suffice, though it doesn’t read nicely!

Hope you enjoy this foray into the world of Anita Blake! What else are you reading? Come back later this week for some kinky musings!

Bloody Bones – Part 2 Kinky Musings

As I mentioned more than a month ago, I am reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, which starts with Guilty Pleasures. Onto book 5: Bloody Bones! I’m reading about 175 pages a week. Each week, I’ll be bringing you two posts: a review of the book and a related kinky post. This is my kinky musings post!

Description from Good Reads: Hired to exhume two-hundred-year-old graves in the wake of a land dispute, Anita Blake becomes involved in local murders involving three dead teenagers and a bloodless corpse that makes her suspect that an evil force is preying upon the town.

Bloody Bones Part 1 (Ch 19-end)

Bathrooms can be a sexy place, especially when they have lavish bathtubs. In this book, there’s a scene in a lavish bathroom that doesn’t lead to sex. So I thought I would put us in that mindset for a few moments.

I lay in the bathtub, swirling the hot water with my finger, holding my breath so that nothing else disturbs the water. I enjoy watching the ripples spread across the still water. I’m still watching the ripples fade as I hear the door open. He enters with a rush of cool air from the hallway. My nipples harden at the sudden change in temperature.

Neither of us says a word as he sits down on the edge of the tub. One of his hands slides onto my shoulder, protruding from the water. A shiver runs down my spine. I have a vision in my mind of him stripping out of his clothes and climbing into the bathtub with me. I can almost feel his body pressed against mine in the hot water. But he’s not living out my fantasy. He’s just sitting next to me, gently stroking my bare skin.

I am getting increasingly frustrated. I want him to touch me. I want to touch him. He’s barely even doing anything, and it’s driving me wild.

Hope you enjoy this foray into the world of Anita Blake! What else are you reading? Come back next week for the next book: The Killing Dance!

November 6 question – What creative activity do you engage in when you’re not writing?

Jayden: My biggest non-writing creative thing lately has been cross-stitching. I recently delved into creating my own cross-stitch patterns, and it’s a lot of fun!

Richard: Probably cooking. I also like to bake (but only sourdough).

TMI Tuesday: November 5th

The author of TMI Tuesday has decided to end her reign, but we have decided to continue on, going back to the archives. We’re going to continue with 2013, and now we’re back on the same date, even (except we’re more than a few weeks behind. Oof.)! So here we are with an archived set of questions.

Do you wanna ride?

Today’s TMI Tuesday is all about your ride–your car, your moto, your bike–your regular mode of transport, and of course sex 😉

mercedes_tmiWatch video: Pebbles – mercedes boy

1. What type of vehicle do you use regularly? Truck, car, bike, etc.

Jayden: Car, an SUV to be exact.

Richard: Car, wikipedia tells me it’s a crossover SUV (I think it’s more of a boxy station wagon.)

2. Do you use public transportation–bus, train, metro/subway, cab? How often?

Jayden: No because the public transit in this town sucks! I miss living in a city.

Richard: I MISS TRAINS!

3. Have you ever had sex in/on public transportation? Tell us about it?

Jayden: No, just cyber/writing smut.

Richard: No. That sounds impractical.

4. I know most of you have had sex in a car or truck, but how many times have you had sex in your present vehicle?

Jayden: 0, it’s relatively new and we own a house, so like, not super necessary to have sex in the car.

Richard: Also 0! (I think I’ve only done it once or twice total in any car.)

5. When was the last time you had sex in a car or truck-type vehicle? Was it with a known person or a stranger?

Jayden: I don’t remember, but it was with a known person. Stranger sex is hot but impractical.

Richard: It was the girl I was dating, like 15 years ago.

6. Have you ever had sex on a bicycle or motorcycle?

Jayden: Nope.

Richard: No.

7. Stick shift or manual? Why?

Jayden: Is there a difference?

Richard: I assume this is a British question.

8. Ever had sex on the hood of a car? (Hood = The part of a car that covers the engine and that can be raised. The British word is bonnet.)

Jayden: Nope.

Richard: I’ve had aggressive makeouts.

Bonus: You are walking down the street. A very sexy and nude person (gender of your choice) pulls up next to you in their shiny new Mercedes Benz, they lower the window and say, “Do you want to ride in my Mercedes?” What do you do? Tell us what you want to do on that ride?

Jayden: In fantasy, totally! Hop in! But in reality, I wouldn’t dare.

Richard: I don’t think I would even in fantasy. That is a lame pickup.

Bonus, bonus: What is the sexiest thing you have ever done in a vehicle?

Jayden: I masturbated in a gas station parking lot (don’t worry – it was the middle of the night and I picked a dark corner).

Richard: I’ve gotten blow jobs in a car a couple times.

Bloody Bones – Part 2

As I mentioned more than a month ago, I am reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, which starts with Guilty Pleasures. Onto book 5: Bloody Bones! I’m reading about 175 pages a week. Bloody Bones Part 1 (Ch 19-end)

As always, I love every book in this series. In this one, as I got to the end, I wished that she had slowed down the last ~30 pages or so. It went so quickly, and so much happened. I wanted to know more about the relationships between the fae and the vampires and what was going on there. Still, a solid novel!

Here is the link to my very rough notes about this part of the book, including notes on characters and plot. It’s mostly for me, but if you had read it in the past and just need a refresher, it would suffice, though it doesn’t read nicely!

Bloody Bones Part 1 (Ch 1-18)

There’s talk about where everyone is going to sleep. Anita doesn’t want to share a bed with Jean-Claude, even though he assures her that he won’t be able to wake up and do anything because it will be daylight. Let’s hear a little true story about a different time in my life.

I know that you aren’t supposed to take a bus across the state to meet a stranger from the internet without telling anyone where you’re going, but…here I am. I don’t know what possessed me to do it. I guess it was the whole event. A movie premiere! My friend from the internet (please realize that in 2005, this was a BIG deal) got tickets to see a movie I’ve been dying to see. He works at a game store, and the store rented out the whole screen at the theater so we could all go. So off I went!

The evening was magical. There was no spark with my friend. I had thought there might be, but it was just friendship. But when it came time to finally go to bed after the movie and dinner at the diner, I was very nervous. There were four of us and one bed. So we all piled in—one after the other. I don’t know how we did it. (Ah, the days of college!) But we managed. Nothing happened that night (or any other night after). And all these years later, we still keep in touch.

Hope you enjoy this foray into the world of Anita Blake! What else are you reading? Come back next week for Part 2!

TMI Tuesday: October 29th

The author of TMI Tuesday has decided to end her reign, but we have decided to continue on, going back to the archives. We’re going to continue with 2013, and now we’re back on the same date, even (except we’re more than a few weeks behind. Oof.)! So here we are with an archived set of questions.

The Men of TMI Tuesday

Questions for this week’s TMI Tuesday were submitted by various TMI Tuesday male participants.

tmi

1. Advizor: http://advizortoall.blogspot.com
I once overheard in a bathroom, “There is nothing as over-rated as sex or under-rated as a good bowel movement.” Discuss.

Jayden: If the sex is good, then I don’t think it’s overrated. If it’s bad… I’ll take the good BM.

Richard: Bad (or even mediocre) sex is overrated. I’d rather jerk off than have bad sex. A good BM is pretty good, but I think a good piss is even more underrated.

2. the late phoenix: http://thelatephoenix.blogspot.com/
Friendship lasts longer than cumming. which of your online friends that you’ve never met would you like to meet in real life? which do you think you could become life-long REAL friends with? Actual friends, like going out to coffee and movies with, gossiping with, kissing on the forehead, hugging, loving.

Jayden: I have a friend online I’ve had forever, like… over 20 years. But he lives in Alaska. We almost met once in college, but it didn’t pan out. We don’t really talk anymore, but we’re still friends on Facebook and follow each other’s lives. I’d love to meet someday. I think we’d be good friends.

Richard: Am I just putting the names of people I know online? That’s kind of awkward. Umm, Karni. He seems pretty cool. We’ve been internet friends for over a decade at this point. Riley, but he’d never agree to actually meet up.

3. John D Stories: http://www.johndstories.co.uk/
In a parallel universe, who out of your blog or Twitter followers would you most like to spend a steamy evening with? What would you do? Why them?

Jayden: I don’t really know any of my blog or Twitter followers except Richard, so… Richard?

Richard: Can it still be Jayden? Otherwise, I don’t have a ton of followers, or any that I know that well. I used to have a couple stream followers who were like D-list gaming celebrities, so I might fuck Avex for nerd-cred.

4. Virtual Sin: http://virtualsin.wordpress.com/
(multi-part question)
a. What method of stimulation (intercourse, oral, manual, toy, whatever) gives you the strongest orgasm?

Jayden: Manual or toy, definitely. I used to say toy, but Richard’s hands are incredible (as are other parts of him).

Richard: I think vaginal and manual are pretty tied, but I also think I can get super strong ones more reliably manually.
b. With what method of stimulation do you get the most orgasms?

Jayden: Manual.

Richard: Vaginal.
c. If the answer to a is different from the answer to b, what’s wrong with your life?

Jayden: Nothing, thank you very much. 😛

Richard: I like fucking my wife, and don’t think MAXIMUM ORGASM is the only goal of sex.

5. Jon Pressick: http://sex-in-words.blogspot.com
Would you rather have a life where you only had sex once a year for 2 minutes or where you have to have sex, every day for a minimum of 2 hours?

Jayden: See Richard’s answer. It’s good:

Richard: Can we define sex as cybering or something? I’d send Jayden two hours of smut. Maybe I could automate it somehow…

Bloody Bones Part 1 (Ch 1-18)

So much happens in the first half of this book! I guess that’s true for all of these novels. They move so fast! But it’s very good. As usual, I’m riveted and want to get to the end (even on a re-read). Great book so far!

Here is the link to my very rough notes about the first half of the book, including notes on characters and plot. It’s mostly for me, but if you had read it in the past and just need a refresher, it would suffice, though it doesn’t read nicely!

The Lunatic Cafe – Part 2 Kinky Story

As I mentioned more than a month ago, I am reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, which starts with Guilty Pleasures. Onto book 4: The Lunatic Cafe! I’m reading about 175 pages a week. Each week, I’ll be bringing you two posts: a review of the book and a related kinky post. This is my kinky story!

Description from Amazon: Vampire hunter and zombie animator Anita Blake is an expert at sniffing out the bad from the good. But in The Lunatic Cafe-now in trade paperback for the first time-she’s about to learn that nothing is ever as it seems, especially in matters of the not-so-human heart.

Dating a werewolf with self-esteem issues is stressing Anita out. Especially when something-or someone-starts taking out the city’s shapeshifters.

The Lunatic Cafe – Part 2 (Ch 22-end)

It happens a lot throughout the stories, but werewolves (at least in the Anita Blake world) are turned on by blood and fear. I can definitely relate to that. Fear is a huge turn-on for me. And obviously, blood-play is a kink, just not one of my kinks. Do you have a kink that is more on the taboo side of things? Enjoy this little story about fear being a turn-on.

Work starts at 5:30am. It’s too early, but I have to be there to open the gym by 6:00am. And you better believe that if I opened at 6:02, someone would complain to my boss. So I am always early, and I am always unlocking the doors on time. I don’t mind the early mornings, but you know what I do mind? Walking the streets of Boston before the sun rises.

It shouldn’t matter, but it does. I shouldn’t be scared, but I am. And it’s different at this hour of the morning. If I go out late at night, there are always people around. Students sneaking into bars before they turn 21, or maybe just after they’ve reached that milestone. People in their late 20s going out on blind dates. People in their 30s sick of work and needing a drink at the end of the day. I don’t know all of their reasons, but I do know that they are out and about, that they make noise, and they provide witnesses for the woman walking alone on the dark streets. I don’t want to bank on it protecting me, but it definitely does make me feel more comfortable.

But at 5:15, before the sun rises, there aren’t any college students wandering the streets. No one is going home after a long day at work. When I get on the train in five minutes, it will be me and a few other sleepy people heading off to work for the day. There might even be a few night-shift people heading home. But no one is peppy, loud, chatty. That part is nice. And with a train operator, I feel reasonably comfortable that no one is going to grab me and take me off to rape me.

But before I get to the train, I have to walk five minutes down the road. I cross the street, go down a set of dark stairs, down an alley, and out to the end of the block where the train station sits. On this particular morning, as I cross the street right near the top of the stairs, there’s a car. It’s just sitting there with its headlights on, illuminating the street. There are no interior lights on. I can’t see anything inside.

There are a hundred good reasons they could be pulled over. Maybe they dropped something, or maybe they had to send a text message. I am wary and watchful as I near the car. Just as I am level with the passenger side door, it swings open.

My heart pounds hard in my chest. I don’t look. I don’t think. I just run. Down the stairs, through the alley, never looking behind me, never slowing down. Praying that a train will pull up to the station at just the right moment.

Hope you enjoy this foray into the world of Anita Blake! What else are you reading? Come back next week for the next book: Bloody Bones!

TMI Tuesday: October 22nd

TMI Tuesday – August 13, 2013

Posted on August 12, 2013 by TMI Tuesday blog

Thank you to swinging gemma from Erotic Adventures blog for this week’s TMI Tuesday questions.

Super!

For those of you who need a super-hero and super-villain database, you’re in luck! There is one: http://www.superherodb.com/characters/

These are definitely better questions for Richard, so I’ll let him (mostly) take this week! ~Jayden

1. When you were a child/teenager who was your favourite superhero and why?

Richard: Spider-Man. I want to say probably just exposure to the cartoon as a kid more than anything. I still like him a lot, though. From a writing standpoint (when done correctly), he has a versatile and entertaining (but not too strong) power set and an interesting personal background/morals.

2. Which supervillain is most like you and why?

Richard: I would like to make Jayden answer this. I’m going to say Arcade. Given the choice, Rube-Goldberg deathtraps would be high on my villain motif list.

Jayden: I don’t know who that is, but I think we’re both big fans of Rube-Goldberg things.

3. If you had a superpower, what would it be, and would you use it for good or evil?

Jayden: Time control, definitely.

Richard: Time control is the best superpower. You could even do evil and then travel back in time to stop yourself to be good if you wanted. (Or cause a disaster but pause time to fix it, etc.)

4. Do you own a superhero costume? When and where was the last time and place that you wore it?

Richard: I have a Batman bathrobe. Umm, around my house like six months ago.

5. Have you ever had a sexual fantasy about a superhero/villain? Tell us about it.

Richard: I’ve jerked it to… a lot of different female superheroes and a more select collection of male ones. I think the ones that’ve gotten the most mileage over the years are Dark Seid corrupting Power Girl, turning her into his sex slave, and using her to conquer the universe, and turning the Sailor Senshi into a harem with thematically relevant kinks.

6. Who do you think is the coolest superhero and why?

Richard: Ghostrider is a demonic motorcyclist who is on fire. It’s physically impossible to be cooler.

Bonus:  You have been granted the wish of having a threesome with one superhero and one supervillain. Which ones do you choose and why?

Richard: Hawkeye (he’s just a favorite, if fucking him gives me an excuse to meet him, I’m down) and Sara Pezzini from Witchblade. She’s hot, and I haven’t put any indie characters on this list.

The Lunatic Cafe – Part 2 (Ch 22-end)

Another smash! (I feel like I’m going to just keep saying that.) It’s always amazing how LKH can keep the novel centered on the action. I want to know how everything resolves, but I don’t need a play by play of the police investigation or the hospital stay. The passing of time is one of her strengths. Relationships can grow and develop over time “off screen” and she gives just enough flavor to make it enticing but not make you feel like you’re missing out on something.

Here is the link to my very rough notes about the first half of the book, including notes on characters and plot. It’s mostly for me, but if you had read it in the past and just need a refresher, it would suffice, though it doesn’t read nicely!

The Lunatic Cafe – Part 1 (Ch 1-21)

In The Lunatic Cafe, there is a lot of porn happening. Have you ever watched porn with a partner? I’m not a huge porn person, but with the right person, it can be a sexy experience. Check out this little snippet of story about a couple watching porn together.

The screen brightens, and I can’t help but stare. There is a woman on the screen, bound with her hands behind her. She is walking down a city street, and she is naked. I can feel my pussy pulse with excited. Oh to be her!

A large hand pushes her forward, and then a man steps into the frame. He forces the woman to keep walking. Her bare feet must feel every step on the rough pavement. My feet tingle just a little at the thought, even though I am nestled in my bed with my partner, and he is gently stroking my hair.

I watch as people on the street stare at the naked woman. How could they even have filmed this? Was it a closed set? Is it in another country? My brain feels like mush as all of my attention is drawn to the screen where the man is opening a door. He pushes her in front of him, and her bare body hits the door, pushing it fully open. Once inside, the door closes behind them with an audible latch.

A shiver runs down my spine. “Does that excite you, pet?” my partner asks.

I nod, my mouth dry. I don’t think words will make any sense.

The woman on the screen falls to her knees, or maybe she’s pushed? I can’t quite tell, but I would give anything to be in her shoes. Well, not literally, because she’s naked. But I would give anything to feel the fear, the anticipation, the excitement. What will happen next? She certainly doesn’t know, and neither do I. But I would bet a large sum of money that she will end up fully used and satisfied by the end of the porn, and I hope that I will be, too!

Hope you enjoy this foray into the world of Anita Blake! What else are you reading? Come back on Sunday for my review of the rest of the book!

TMI Tuesday: July 30, 2013

Posted on July 29, 2013 by TMI Tuesday blog

Thank you to John D Stories for TMI Tuesday today. He had this to say about his inspiration for this week’s questions: I was stuck behind a caravan with an interesting thing painted on the back . . .

WILL YOU MARRY ME?

WillYouMarryMe

1. Do you believe in marriage?

Jayden: Yeah, I’ve been married twice.

2. Have you ever proposed marriage or been proposed to marry? What happened?

Jayden: Both. My ex-husband proposed to me in my apartment in college. I’ll let Richard tell the story of when I proposed to him. 😛

Richard: I told Jayden she should propose to me since she already got proposed to. She made a scavenger hunt and I drove to the wrong place.

Jayden: He got it in the end.

3. What would be your dream way of proposing marriage?

Jayden: I did it! It was (almost) perfect!

4. What would be your nightmarish way of proposing marriage?

Jayden: Uhh, if someone said no.

Richard: Spelling it out with flaming penguins dropped from an airplane.

5. Mainstream society has engagement rings; in your opinion, what token should be given to signify engagement?

Jayden: I like my engagement ring, but I didn’t want an expensive diamond.

6. What do you think would have happened to cause someone to have “Will you marry me?” on the back of their caravan?

Jayden: Someone who loves their minivan, maybe?

Bonus: Tell us about someone you would have proposed to but never had the chance/opportunity.

Jayden: Um, I don’t know. I don’t know that I’ve gotten to that point with anyone that I didn’t marry. I’m sure there’s a celebrity I would propose to if I could.

The Lunatic Cafe – Part 1 (Ch 1-21)

Another smash from Laurell K. Hamilton! Only halfway through, I’m riveted. Only the fourth book in the series, it’s surprising to me how little we still know about Anita. This book gives us more background, especially in the realm of her sexual history to hear that she’s only had one partner before. It’s also a big revelation in her relationship status, but I won’t reveal that in the non-spoiler review. If you haven’t read it yet, just wait! It’s shocking!

Here is the link to my very rough notes about the first half of the book, including notes on characters and plot. It’s mostly for me, but if you had read it in the past and just need a refresher, it would suffice, though it doesn’t read nicely!

Circus of the Damned – Part 2 Kinky Musings

As I mentioned over a month ago, I am reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, which starts with Guilty Pleasures. Onto book 3: Circus of the Damned! I’m reading about 175 pages a week. Each week, I’ll be bringing you two posts: a review of the book and a related kinky post. This is the kinky musings part of the second half of Circus of the Damned!

Description from Good Reads: In Circus of the Damned-now in trade paperback for the first time-a rogue master vampire hits town, and Anita gets caught in the middle of an undead turf war. Jean-Claude, the Master Vamp of the city, wants her for his own-but his enemies have other plans. And to make matters worse, Anita takes a hit to the heart when she meets a stunningly handsome junior high science teacher named Richard Zeeman. They’re two humans caught in the crossfire-or so Anita thinks.

Circus of the Damned Part 2 (Ch 22-end)

Secrets can be a sexy thing. The best kinds of secrets are the ones where only the two of you know. I definitely love the secrets that Richard and I share. One of my favorites is wearing something kinky under my clothes. Whether it’s Ben wa balls worn on a walk, a remote vibrator buzzing away while we’re out to dinner, or nipple clamps hidden in my bra, I adore those lovely secrets with my partner.

What kind of secrets are your favorite?

Hope you enjoy this foray into the world of Anita Blake! What else are you reading? Come back Sunday for my next book review! I’ll be starting the Lunatic Cafe next week!

TMI Tuesday: October 8th

The author of TMI Tuesday has decided to end her reign, but we have decided to continue on, going back to the archives. We’re going to continue with 2013, and now we’re back on the same date, even (except we’re more than a few weeks behind. Oof.)! So here we are with an archived set of questions.

TMI Tuesday: July 16, 2013

Posted on July 15, 2013 by TMI Tuesday blog

This week’s TMI Tuesday questions are about important choices we have to make in life, and writing your own TMI questions. Join me in playing . . .

(WYR part 1 was here)

1. Would you rather be smart or awesome? Why?

Jayden: Awesome. Sometimes being smart is too difficult.

2. Would you rather french kiss a cat or pleasure a frog?

.

Jayden: Uhh, pleasure a frog I guess. French kissing a cat would hurt and I’m allergic.

Richard: Kissing a cat seems marginally less gross, and I’m not allergic.

3. Would you rather live the rest of your life with Darth Vader’s voice or Alvin the Chipmunk’s voice?

Jayden: ALVIN!

Richard: Darth Vader

4. Would you rather sail the Caribbean on a week long FREE cruise with the ship’s crew and 20 five-year-old children or shovel coal in a coal mine for a month?

Jayden: Free cruise! At least it would be pretty. Plus the crew would watch the kids. 😉

Richard: Coal. A lot of my family were coal miners, so I’d like to make that connection.

5. Would you rather make an obscene phone call to your mother once a week or get a text message from your father every time he’s horny? Why?

Jayden: Get a text from my father. Whatever, hope you’re having a good time, Dad!

Richard: The text is definitely less work.

6. Would you rather have dinner with all your exes at once or with five guys on death row having their last meal?

Jayden: Five guys on death row. I bet they’ve lived fascinating lives.

Richard: Is that a Five Guys (burgers and fries) on death row?

Bonus: Write one unique question for possible use in a future TMI Tuesday, and submit it as your bonus answer for this week.

Jayden: What is your favorite trashy TV show?

Circus of the Damned – Part 2

As I mentioned more than a month ago, I am reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, which starts with Guilty Pleasures. Onto book 3: Circus of the Damned! I’m reading about 175 pages a week. Each week, I’ll be bringing you two posts: a review of the book and a related kinky post. This is my review of the book post!

They’re two humans caught in the crossfire-or so Anita thinks.

Circus of the Damned Part 2 (Ch 22-end)

This book really breaks things open in Anita’s life. She’s learning some information about some critical characters that will really change the trajectory of her life. As always, Laurell K. Hamilton’s writing is stellar. I am ready to dive right into the next book!

Here is the link to my very rough notes about the first half of the book, including notes on characters and plot. It’s mostly for me, but if you had read it in the past and just need a refresher, it would suffice, though it doesn’t read nicely!

Hope you enjoy this foray into the world of Anita Blake! What else are you reading? Come back later this week for some kinky musings!

Circus of the Damned – Part 1 Kinky Musings

Circus of the Damned Part 1 (Ch 1-21)

How comfortable do you feel being nude in front of others? In Circus of the Damned, there are a lot of characters who wander around naked. And, well, when you’re a shapeshifter, it makes sense to not wear clothes. If you’re wearing clothes when you shapeshift, you’ll ruin them. I think it definitely shocks Anita that so many people are casually nude, but what do you think?

I definitely have never been particularly comfortable with my body or being nude. I will sometimes wander around the house naked, but I’ll be wrapped in a blanket most of the time. Richard, on the other hand, sheds his pants the moment he walks into the house (assuming we don’t have company) and would be naked all the time. And yet, I sleep nude, and I am always uncomfortable sleeping any other way, and Richard sleeps with underwear on. Just an amusing turn of events.

How much casual nudity is there in your house?

Hope you enjoy this foray into the world of Anita Blake! What else are you reading? Come back for my review of the book for the second half on Sunday!

October 2 question – Ghost stories fit right in during this month. What’s your favorite classic ghostly tale? Tell us about it and why it sends chills up your spine.

Richard: I’m not really a big ghost story person, but I have some ghost story trivia to share. Many people know that A Christmas Carol is part of a broader Christmas ghost story tradition in 1800s England. What fewer people know is that he actually included a similar story as one of many in his first novel The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club.
