AtoZ2019KI’ll just let Isola tell her story…

Everyone has embarrassing moments. I mean, it takes a lot to embarrass me anymore, but that wasn’t always the case. Even there was a time in my life when I was young and naive.

I’m going to tell you a story about that, but don’t judge me, okay?

This goes back to when I was 18, so… a little more than a decade ago. I was dating a guy named Jesse. He wanted to surprise me with something for my 18th birthday, but I didn’t know what. He took me out to a movie, which I thought was pretty lame. I mean, it was a movie, cool, but I didn’t understand what it was so special. When we got in the car after the movie, I was wholly unimpressed by his surprise birthday gift. I was not any more impressed when we pulled into a parking lot to a nondescript building. There were no big signs to tell me what it was, and I had no idea where we were.

“Jesse?” I asked.

“You’ll see,” he said with a grin.

He jumped out and went around to open my door for me. After I was out, he shut the door, and he took my hand, leading me to the building. “Jesse,” I said again, “what is this place?”

He didn’t respond, but we were nearing the front door now. I could see that the glass on the door was all blacked out, and the words read “Welcome to Aphrodite’s Toychest.” I looked at Jesse in shock. I had always been interested in kinky things. I had little experience with it, but I was definitely interested, and he knew it. We’d had whispered conversations in bed about fantasies, but he had never pressured me to try something before I was ready. And here we were at a sex toy shop.

I looked at him with wonder in my eyes.

“I’ll buy you whatever you want, baby.”

I was speechless. I stood up on my tiptoes and kissed him, but at just that moment, someone came out of the store and slammed the door open right in front of me. I was shocked that someone was there, standing right in front of us as we kissed.

“Get lost, kids!” he yelled.

For all of Jesse’s faults, standing up to someone wasn’t one of them. “Excuse me, Sir,” he said politely but firmly, “but we’re of age and we were just about to go into the store.”

The guy grunted in response and stomped off to his car.

I was trembling as we entered the dark store.

An employee was there within seconds. “I’m so sorry about that. Are you both okay?”

I could only nod, but Jesse assured the woman with long silver hair that we were.

“If there’s anything I can do for you, please let me know.”

Jesse thanked her and started to walk away, but I found my voice at last. “Actually,” I said, and Jesse stopped beside me, “it’s my birthday and my boyfriend said he would buy me something, but I don’t even know where to begin.”

The woman grinned at me, and I saw perfect white teeth and a smile that lit up her eyes. “I am more than happy to help you with that,” she said. She offered me her arm, and I took it, Jesse trailing behind us as Jeanette gave me a rundown of all the possible fun toys I could get. Before I knew it, the rudely interrupted kiss was forgotten.
