Lube #AtoZChallenge

AtoZ2019LI’ll just let Isola tell her story…

Today, I want to educate you on some different kinds of lube.

There are four basic types of lubricants. Water-based and silicone based. There are pros and cons to each, but there are some things to watch out for.

Water-based lubricants are easy to rinse off at the end of a play session, so that’s good, but if you are doing something in the shower, it won’t be very helpful.

Silicone-based are annoying to wash off and definitely require soap and water, but they last a long time. They are great when wearing a butt plug for an extended period of time! But make sure the plug isn’t made of silicone. Silicone lubricant and silicone sex toys are not a good mix.

Oil-based lubricants are easy to get in the kitchen, but the oil can stain your sheets.

Natural lubricants have a short shelf life, but they can be a good choice otherwise.

Whenever you are going to try a new lubricant, do your research! Consider what you’re going to use it for and how long you need it to last (in action and on the shelf). You can always go into your local sex toy shop and ask for the advice of someone there!

I give you this information as your friendly neighborhood sex toy clerk and because of my personal experience. I keep all of my sex toys in labeled bags (because of course I do), and one day I went to get out a vibrator and discovered that they were melted. Literally melted. The bag wasn’t near a heat source. All I can think of is that I forgot to clean one of my dildos and the silicone lube melted the silicone dildos. Well damn.

Maybe it was some other freak thing (leaky battery?), but whatever it was, I needed new vibrators. (I’ll tell that story in V is for Vibrator!) But just in case, research your lubes!
