July 7 – What would make you quit writing?
Jayden: I want to say nothing, but I’m sure something could. I’ve thought about things like if I couldn’t physically type anymore, but there are dictation softwares that are pretty good nowadays. I don’t love them, and I definitely write better when I type it as opposed to think it out loud, but I could do it. So, physical ability wouldn’t stop me.
Um. I’ve written through miscarriage, pregnancy, having an infant, working full time plus extra jobs, graduate school, a pandemic, a job change, and a divorce. I don’t know that there’s anything that will take me away from writing permanently.
Richard: If I got my hands cut off, maybe? I’ve been told Alzheimer’s is an issue for some older writers. I can’t really think of anything else either. Basically, Jayden’s answer, but without getting pregnant and stuff.
Jayden: Oh yeah, I thought of Alzheimer’s, too, and it runs in my family, but I’m definitely hoping to avoid that. And oh look, we’re the same person!
Getting your hands cut off would definitely make writing harder. The prosthetic hands they make these days are getting pretty sophisticated, though, so that might only be a temporary setback.

That is very true! I’m sure we’d find a way.

Ok, so the only answer I could come up with is Death, but getting my hands cut off would be a bit of a set back. But what a story! You’d definitely have to use the dictation software to tell that one.

Definitely! Maybe we could make enough money to pay for dictation services or something. 😉

No hands would be a problem but not an excuse to quit!
