For this year’s A to Z Blog Challenge, Richard and Jayden are worldbuilding! Using Rebekah Loper‘s book The A-Zs of Worldbuilding as a guide, we have teamed up to give descriptions of the world we’re creating, along with snippets of what it’s like to exist in the world. Enjoy!
Background by Jayden for C is for Clothing:
Clothes are necessary, of course, but in the female dominated community, the women wear whatever comfortable clothes they want to. Mostly, they wear flowing dresses or stretchy clothes made of soft, synthetic materials. The submissive men are often clothed in very little, their bodies always available to the women. When it’s cold in the winter, they have soft blankets, sweatshirts, jackets, and pants that they can wear. And of course, good sturdy footwear. But, because they live mostly underground, the weather doesn’t particularly affect their dress. They’ve adapted to it being chilly, and most people don’t have to bundle up even when it gets into the lower temperature ranges.
Story by Richard:
Stevie Jhobs looked up and down her closet. Black turtleneck sweater dresses stretched back to blend with the shadows. “Always a shame when I have to get dressed, don’t you agree, Bertrand?” she asked, turning to the man kneeling beside her.
“It is a shame to have to hide Mistress’s beauty,” he agreed.
“But it can’t be helped. The cryo freezers won’t work without being cold. Too cold to wander naked as the Goddess intended. Fetch me one,” she ordered.
The man nodded and stepped into the closet, selecting the third dress, taking it down and bringing it back to slip over her head. Stevie shook her hair out and turned, heading out of her apartment with Bertrand following her.
One of the lead engineers for the Adirlachson government, she had priority access to the restricted elevator next door. She swiped her badge, then put her finger on the panel to get a print scan. Identity confirmed, the doors hissed open and she stepped inside with Betrand. The man was dressed simply, heavy pants beige and a puffy black jacket. The outfit did nothing for his form, unlike the virgin killer she was wearing. The elevator plummeted deep into the mountain, passing the residential floors most people lived and worked on, the engineering floors that housed the machinery necessary to keep their underground civilization running, and over a hundred feet of mostly solid rock. Here, below everything, was her secret project; Rejuvenation.
The two of them stepped out, nodding to the guard on duty by the elevator. “Status?” she asked one of her assistants, as the woman rushed to greet her.
“We’ve successfully arranged for fifteen percent more seating on the brontosaurus ma’am. Deep water swimming is still a problem, but they can support the weight well enough to wade through anything under fifteen feet.
“Excellent,” Stevie said. She turned, looking up at the massive form of a tyrannosaurus encased in a block of ice. Dinosaurs and technology had gotten them into this mess. If she had anything to say about it, it would get them out as well.

ooo, absolutely lovely!
I love the last line so much! “Dinosaurs and technology had gotten them into this mess. If she had anything to say about it, it would get them out as well.”
Honestly makes for a good movie! And I’m sure this would be SO much better than the current Jurassic World movies!
Hopping in from the A-Z community,

I love the little details in worldbuilding like this, particularly for clothes and how much they tie into societal identities.

I love the dress code, utility before fashion. 😉
And cool, brontosaurus to carry heavy stuff!
