August 5 question – As a writer/author what is something you regret? Or something that you wish you’d done differently in your writing process?

I have self-published a few novels, and I have some regrets about some of the terminology I used. One of them, I actually took off the market because even the title was controversial. It’s one of those things where we learn more and do better, but I wish that I had known better the first time.

  1. Hi,

I understand that very well. Maybe you can rewrite the book after you have thoughtfully thought about terminology that you really want to use and also a new title.

  2. One advantage of self-publishing is there are no filters or limits but that can be a double-edged sword sometimes. Have you thought about editing and republishing your book?

  3. My effort to find an agent was exhausting, so I became an indie writer. Eleven books later, I’m still having fun and just launched my latest, an art crimes mystery (Honeymoon in Egypt). Not sure I have any regrets. Now I’m wondering what you would have written for the September IWSG post. It’s not too late!

  4. Learning and growing is good. It’s better than being stuck, unable to evolve.
