#Bloganuary 3

Hello readers! We’re here with the answer to the second question in our Bloganuary series!

What is the earliest memory you have?

Jayden: I have a very vague memory of my mom’s best friend’s house that she sold when I was 3 or 4. Other than that, I remember watching TV with my parents and playing school in Kindergarten. Nothing particularly crazy.

Richard: My mom yelling at me for brushing my teeth wrong. Like, I spit and it got on her toothbrush or something. I was 2? 3?

#Bloganuary 2

Hello readers! Jayden here with the answer to the second question in our Bloganuary series!

How are you brave?

Jayden: I have an intense dislike of change. My therapist and I have spoken about it at length. And yet, I took a huge step ~2 years ago and ended my 12+ year marriage. It was a super difficult thing to do, but it was the right thing to do for myself. It took a lot of bravery to take that step, but I am much happier now, and I’m glad I did it.

#Bloganuary 1

Hello readers! We’re here today to bring you the first in a returning series: Bloganuary! Honestly, we totally forgot about this until the email popped up from them today. Whoops! So, surprise, you get a little tidbit from (at least) one of us every day in January to kick off the year! But don’t worry, our other plans haven’t changed at all.

Bloganuary is a challenge to blog every day in January with a prompt from WordPress. The prompts don’t come out until almost the day of, so we have to write every day for it to work.

So here is the first installment. Day 1:

What is something you want to achieve this year?

What’s new in 2023?

What is new in 2023?

by Jayden R. Vincente

I have long been against the idea that just because it’s January 1st and the year ends in a new digit, doesn’t mean that anything has changed. But it is a good time for a refresh, a new start. And so that’s what’s going to happen here on J.R. Vincente’s Erotic Fiction Blog!

So, what’s going to be new?

Well, consistency is the word for 2023 (more on that on Wednesday), and with respect to my blog, that means posting regularly. Back in the Summer of 2022 2021, I had a plan to post every day, and I made it for a while, almost two months, but it wasn’t sustainable. This time, I’m going to go for a more manageable three times a week, maybe four.

So what can you expect?

Tuesdays: TMI Tuesday featuring questions from the TMI Tuesday Blog.

Wednesdays: We’re aiming for always something. The first week of the month is Insecure Writer’s Support Group. The other 3-4 Wednesdays, we’re looking at posting some journal entries with our words for 2023 thanks to Marquessa Matthews, and maybe some more What’s Good on Wednesdays.

Fridays: A new story! BDSM and kink fiction. I already wrote 24 chapters, so this is going to be a fun ride!

And Richard and I are looking to do some more collaborative writing, but we have a busy January so we’re going to work on something for the Spring sometime.

What are your goals for 2023?

Words for 2023

Marquessa Matthews had an idea to do 12 words for 2023. She’s using them sort of as journal prompts, mostly for herself, but to share a little with her readers. She’s invited everyone to join her, and I’ve decided that I’d like to. Each month, I’ll be using one of the words to prompt a blog entry, and maybe some of my personal journaling, as well.

If you’d like to join in, you should go to Marquessa’s post and check it out!

The words are:

  • Possibilities
  • Acceptance
  • Authenticity
  • Enrichment
  • Change
  • Gratitude
  • Relinquishment
  • Order
  • Creativity
  • Peace
  • Simplicity
  • Joy

It’s very free-form, so feel free to start wherever you like, but I think I’m going to start with Possibilities. We’ll see you the second and third Wednesdays of the month for mine and Richard’s posts. See you soon!

TMI Tuesday: December 27, 2022

1. Would you rather live in a real haunted house or a gingerbread house?

Jayden: Gingerbread house. 100%.

Richard: Haunted. Gingerbread house would have so many ants.

2. One practical use for your belly button is _____ .

Jayden: It makes me laugh when Richard plays with it.

Richard: I wonder if you could fit a dime in there…

3. Do you trust birds? If not, why not?

Jayden: I mean, they’re generally wild animals. I’m sure domesticated ones are fine.

Richard: I trust crows.

4. What’s wrong with you?

Jayden: A lot, haha. I’m too much of a perfectionist, for one thing.

Richard: I finally got diagnosed with psoriasis after over a decade. It’s good to know I have a (relatively) benign condition, and not some horrific unknown disease.

5. Would you rather be a millionaire but NOT have friends or family or be broke but have friends and family?

Jayden: Be broke but have friends and family. Not even a question.

Richard: I’ll pick millionaire. No real reason, I just feel like being contrary to Jayden.

TMI Tuesday: December 20, 2022

TMI Tuesday is posted.

1. Would you rather work on Christmas day and earn 4 times your daily salary or spend the day with your family?

Jayden: We don’t usually celebrate ON Christmas day anyway, so I’d rather earn the money.

Richard: I don’t think anyone would show up to my job on Christmas day, so I’ll get paid 4 times to have some reading time and Zoom with my family if they want.

2. Would you rather spend a snowy day outside playing winter games/sports or spend a snowy day inside with your most annoying relative?

Jayden: Take me outside!

Richard: CURLING

3. For the month of December would you rather sing jingle bells really loud every time you enter a room or wear a Santa suit every day?

Jayden: Wear a Santa Suit. They would go with my Santa hat earrings.

Richard: I would jingle so many bells.

4. Would you rather choose your presents or be surprised?

Jayden: A mix is nice. 🙂 But if I have to pick, I’d rather choose.

Richard: Choose. It’s just a waste of time/money/landfill if I don’t like then.

5. Would you rather be Scrooge before he meets the ghost of Christmas or be the Grinch before becoming good?

Jayden: Scrooge, at least he had money and could use it to help people after he meets the ghosts.

Richard: The Grinch. You get to blow your horntuber and ride a ridiculous sleigh.

Blog Reference

Hello, dear readers! I’m sorry that 2022 has been so quiet on my blog, but I promise I have BIG plans for 2023, and I even have things in the works to ensure I actually keep up with things.

But before I reveal my big plans, another blogger I follow wrote something that resonated with me so much that I wanted to share it here (with the author’s permission). If you are so inclined, go check out The Dreamgirl Writes thoughts on Rom-Coms, my favorite genre of movie.

Hope you’re all having a safe and happy holiday season (or at least bearable for those who aren’t fond of the season), and I’ll be back soon with some exciting announcements!

TMI Tuesday is posted.

1. Would you rather have a cold December holiday season or a warm holiday season?

Jayden: Cold! MORE SNUGGLES!

Richard: Cold. Cold all year. Always cold.

2. Would you rather help Santa deliver presents or help Santa in his workshop?

Jayden: Hmm. I’d like delivering presents, but mostly if I could see the looks on people’s faces.

Richard: Workshop. I like building stuff, and I don’t get to do it enough.

3. Would you rather wear nice clothes all Christmas day or wear pajamas?

Jayden: Another tough one. I like wearing fancy clothes sometimes, but PJs on Christmas are fun.

Richard: Christmas is a pajama day!

4. Would you rather eat fruit cake for two days straight or eat candy canes for two days straight?

Jayden: Candy canes. I don’t love them, but I really don’t like fruit cake.

Richard: Fruit cake. Candy canes aren’t even food. Your mouth would be so sticky. Ick.

5. Right now would you rather eat gingerbread cookies or drink hot chocolate?

Jayden: Gingerbread cookies. I can’t have chocolate.

Richard: Hot chocolate. I’m too full to eat anything.

December 7 question – It’s holiday time! Are the holidays a time to catch up or fall behind on writer goals?

Jayden: I think it’s bad. I get out of my routine so much that I fall behind on everything. Even though I have more time off of my day job, it’s hard for me to keep a writing routine when I’m not working. It’s weird, honestly, that when I have more free time, I get less done. I guess it’s just a mindset.

Richard: Probably about neutral? There’s a bit more free time to write, but I’m also usually recovering from Nano. I usually hit January pretty hard though.

Do you find that that you catch up or fall behind during the holidays?

TMI Tuesday: November 29th, 2022

TMI Tuesday is posted.

1. What is something minor or seemingly insignificant in your life that actually contributes greatly to your happiness?

Jayden: Chores. When I moved in with Richard, he did evening chores, so now we have our set chores we do every night. It makes such a difference in our lives. The dishes are done every night, we keep up with the laundry, etc. etc. (And I give him so much credit for implementing it, making us do it, and probably doing more than I do.)

Richard:

2. Describe your life in 5 words.

Jayden: We’re getting married this weekend!

Richard: I want snuggles and Panaynay

3. Have you ever been screwed over? What happened and how did you respond?

Jayden: I have. Specifically at work, someone reported that I did something I didn’t do. Nothing happened, because my boss knew better. But all I can say is: document, document, document.

Richard: I, similarly, lost a job because someone else wasn’t doing theirs. It was a crappy summer job and I got a better one like a month later, so no big deal.

4. What did you think was cool when you were young but is not cool now?

Jayden: Smoking. I never smoked, but all of my friends did. They were so cool. I’ve still never smoked, and now I’m 100% proud of it.

Richard: Yugioh.

5. Would you rather stay in or go out on a Friday night?

Jayden: Both? I don’t think I could pick, but if I had to, I’d stay in if Richard is staying in. 🙂

Richard: I like to go out on Friday, but low key (like happy hour or over a friend’s house). That way you can enjoy your Saturday. Saturday is more of a go out and party night for me, and there’s usually less going on Sundays anyway.

Bonus: Which word would you use if you could only use one for the rest of your life?

Jayden: Fuck. So versatile.

Richard: Fuck is a good answer.

Coupling

Oops, somehow this was in our drafts. 🙂 Posting now!

1. You unexpectedly had sex with your friend’s partner. You feel guilty. Your friend’s partner keeps texting you begging you not to say anything about the two of you having sex. Would you tell your friend or keep mum?

Jayden: Tell my friend. I’m not very good at keeping secrets like that.

Richard: How does this even happen? Either way, tell my friend. Also, stop texting me friend-partner. I only get like 5 texts a week.

2. How often would you like to spend time away from your significant other?
a. once a week
b. once a month
c. never, we like to be together all the time

Jayden: c. or maybe between b and c? Nah, who am I kidding? I give Richard space when he wants/needs it, but I prefer to be together. SNUGGLES!

Richard: A. One evening a week is nice. I sit around naked playing video games/watching crappy TV without feeling guilty.

3. Do you think couples should argue regularly for a happy relationship or marriage?

Jayden: Have discussions, sure. Argue, not necessarily.

Richard: Everyone should argue all the time.

4. What causes you to feel insecure in a relationship?

Jayden: (Should we get our therapist on the line for this one?) I feel insecure when I feel like my partner doesn’t reassure me that they love me and that they want me.

Richard: I feel insecure that Jayden left her ex husband after we started having an affair.

Bonus: If you were asked, “Why do you keep meeting the wrong people on dating apps?” what would you respond?

Jayden: Richard wasn’t on a dating app when I was. 😛

Richard: I’m just imagining meeting someone with a super common name on a dating app, getting to the coffee shop (or wherever) and winding up on a date with “The Wrong Becky” or whatever. One of my best friends called Jayden “Wrong Jayden” after Wrong Hordak from the She-Ra reboot for a while, since they had the same name.

Money, Money, Money

1. True or False. You can never have enough money.

Jayden: False. There’s a maximum, for sure. I would love to try to reach it so I could use my excess money to help others.

Richard: False.

2. Will money solve all your problems? Why or why not?

Jayden: I feel very lucky I don’t have a ton of problems. More money would certainly help, but there are some pretty big ones that can’t be solved with money.

Richard: It would probably solve, or put a big dent, in most of them.

3. Agree or disagree.  I will not buy something unless it is new (e.g. furniture, car, clothes).

Jayden: Disagree. There are lots of used things I buy. In fact, this is the first time in my life I’ve owned a new couch.

Richard: Disagree. I’m trying to embraced the reuse.

4. Is it important to save for a rainy day (aka emergency fund)?

Jayden: Absolutely. It’s hard, though.

Richard: Yes.

5. Complete the sentence. If I win millions in the lottery I will _____ .

Jayden: Pay off all our debts! There are precious few, but there are some.

Richard: Also pay off all our debts. I think we have more than Jayden thinks.

Bonus: Dating costs money: dating apps, outfits, grooming, and the date itself. Tell us how you plan to make a great cheap date?

Jayden: Go for a walk in the park with some snacks bought at the grocery store (cheese, crackers, grapes). Bring a board game from home.

Richard: Fucking is free.

November 2nd – November is National Novel Writing Month. Have you ever participated? If not, why not?

Jayden: Yes! I’ve been participating since 2007 or so. I’ve made it to 50k or more every November (but rarely in the Camp months). I’ve even managed to write 50k in 24 hours three times. Never again, haha. It’s a lot. But I was proud of that accomplishment. With how busy I am now, I’m only planning to aim for ~50k this year for NaNo. I’m sure I’ll feel like I need to get more, but we’ll see what happens.

Richard: My first NaNo was also around 2007 or 2008. I’ve won the last 3 or 4 years. NaNo is actually how Jayden and I met. (Jayden: THANK GOODNESS FOR NANO! <3)

Are you participating in NaNo?

October 5th – What do you consider the best characteristics of your favorite genre?

Jayden: My favorite genre is romance. I love that there’s always a Happily Ever After. Real life is often serious and sad, so when I invest time in reading, I like that it can have a nice, neat conclusion. What’s your favorite romance novel or who is your favorite romance author?

Richard: Not a genre per se, but I’m going to go with serial fiction in all its forms. I like the way the spread out pacing gives a story room to breathe and for people to speculate and interact in “real time” with it as it develops.

What do you love about your favorite genre?

September 7th – What genre would be the worst one for you to tackle and why?

Jayden: Historical fiction. I don’t have a great grasp on history, so I’d have to do *a lot* of research, which I don’t particularly care for. I love to read it, but writing it would be awful.

Richard: Does Fanfic count? I’ve tried it a couple times, and I just can’t wrap my head around writing other people’s characters.

What would be your hardest genre to tackle?

TMI Tuesday: September 6th, 2022

This week’s TMI Tuesday questions were created by Yummy aka Heelsnstocking and yours truly 11 years ago. It’s so good it deserves doing again.

NAKED

1. What do you wear to sleep in?

Jayden: Nothing. I prefer to sleep naked.

Richard: Usually a pair of boxers. I like naked, but it’s better for my skin.

2. Do you ever walk around your own place naked?

Jayden: Sometimes, when my daughter isn’t around, at least. I never used to, so that’s been a new thing when I started dating Richard.

Richard: Usually. Putting on pants is the worst part of being naked.

3. Have you or would you ever answer the door naked?

Jayden: I would if Richard told me to, which would probably only be in a situation where he knew who was at the door.

Richard: I have a few times, when I knew who it was. I did it more in college.

I present to you TMI Tuesday!

1. Does your smartphone have a grip on you? In one hour, how often do you check your phone?
a. I am glued to my phone. I check it every 1-2 minutes; it is satisfying.
b. I check it 1-2 times per hour.
c. I check my phone only when I get notifications, and I don’t get many.
d. I check at lunch time and at the end of the day mostly, unless I get a notification.

Jayden: (a) when I’m not working, (b) when I am working

Richard: (e) I often don’t know where my phone is.

2. Israeli spyware Pegasus* marketed and sold to other governments is used to spy on activists, journalists, and political leaders. Do you believe hackers are monitoring your smartphone?

Jayden: I’m sure someone is. I hope they like kinky memes and geeky things.

Richard: I believe being monitored is the purpose of my smartphone.

3. When in flight, on an airplane, do you put your phone in flight mode?

Jayden: Yeah, we’re supposed to, right?

Richard: I think I usually just turn it all the way off. It’s easier.

4. What is the lock on your smartphone?
a. facial recognition
b. fingerprint
c. numerical code
d. pattern
e. I don’t lock my phone

Jayden: (d). I used to have (a), but I never set it up with my new phone, and I had (b) but it didn’t work right, so I gave up.

Richard: (c)

5. Do mobile phones interfere with your relationship(s)? How?

Jayden: I don’t think so. Richard makes me put it down sometimes when I’m Doom Scrolling.

Richard: I don’t think so. Neither of us are on them enough for it to be a major problem.

August 3rd question – When you set out to write a story, do you try to be more original or do you try to give readers what they want?

Jayden: I write for myself. I tried writing to get published, but especially in the world of kinky smut, they often want very specific things. As a bisexual switch, sometimes I want a variety of things in one story. It depends on my mood. So when I write and self-publish, I can write whatever combinations I want. It’s very freeing. I just keep reminding myself of the best writing advice I’ve ever been given: write what you want to read.

Richard: For most genre writing, I think you should be trying to do both. If you’re writing a fantasy story, people want to see some dragon slaying or whatever. But you should be trying to do your dragon slaying in an original way. Have your peasants give the dragon more and more tributes until it’s suffocated/crushed under it’s horde!

Original or Give ’em What They Want?

TMI Tuesday: July 19th, 2022

Most things in life are moments of pleasure like dishing at TMI Tuesday blog.

1. Would you rather be attracted to for your body or your mind?

Jayden: My mind. I don’t like my body now, much less when I’m older… Richard likes it though.

Richard: Body. Most people I know who are attracted to people for their minds are the kind of people that will lock you in their basement.

2. What would be more embarrassing for you out in public–to be seen tripping or adjusting your “package”?

Jayden: I mean… both happen on a regular basis. I’m frequently tripping and my boobs are big, so they get adjusted. *shrug* I guess tripping is more embarrassing.

Richard: Package. Tripping is funny or something.

3. If you are going to be famous what is it for?

Jayden: I hope writing. Other than that, I don’t know what I could get famous for.

Richard: I guess writing too. I hope not.

4. Would you rather urinate in port-a-potty or nearest bush?

Jayden: Port-a-potty. Squatting sucks. It’s so hard not to just have piss running down your legs…

Richard: Bush

5. What new beginning are you excited about?

Jayden: I am excited to be going back to school.

Richard: TOWEL ANIMAL FOLDING

Bonus: Burrito or Tamale

Jayden: Burrito. I love burritos.

Richard: Burrito. How is this even a question?
